Competitive Soccer in Alaska

As a competitive soccer club here in Anchorage, Alaska we abide by many different sets of rules. Some of these dictate the rules of soccer in the United States, some for play here in Alaska, and even some for play here in Anchorage. We should all be familiar with some of the other organizations that help play the international game of soccer.

Below are some resources to investigate and inform yourselves, and your athletes as to the rules of the game.

Alaska Youth Soccer Organization

Alaska Youth Soccer Association (AYSA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is the official Alaska State Association and member of the United States Soccer Federation, and US Youth Soccer. AYSA serves as a place for youth soccer in the state representing 16 Affiliate Member Associations and clubs comprising membership with over 9,000 registered players, coaches, officials, volunteers, and league administrators. Alaska Youth Soccer, with a service area covering the Interior, Anchorage, Mat-Su, Kenai Peninsula, and the Southeast provides rewarding recreational and competitive opportunities for players of all ages, genders, and skill levels.

Alaska Soccer Referee Administration

The Alaska Soccer Referee Administration is another resources which offers certification and understanding of the rules and referee responsibilities for the game of soccer played within the State of Alaska. For those interested in becoming referees, this is a great place to start. 

United Anchorage Youth Soccer League 

Mission – Organize and operate outdoor and indoor youth soccer leagues in Anchorage, Alaska.

The United Anchorage Youth Soccer League is the largest competitive youth soccer league in Anchorage, Alaska. UAYSL is comprised of member youth competitive clubs located in Anchorage, Eagle River/Chugiak and the Matanuska-Susitna Valley. UAYSL offers three competitive leagues per soccer year:

Indoor (Early January – Early April)

Summer Outdoor (Late May – July)

Fall Outdoor (Late August – Early October)

US Youth Soccer

US Youth Soccer, the largest youth sport organization in the country, is on a mission to provide world-class support, resources and leadership, helping every member fulfill their goals on and off the field of play.
